Part II · Chat Mode (Realistic) · Chapter 7

How Chat Mode Works

What defines the mode.

Chat mode is the realistic texting mode. Your character is a real person on the other end of a phone. They exist somewhere else in the world and you're having a text conversation with them.

Chat mode
hey what's up
just got home 😴
long day?
ugh yeah. u?
Roleplay mode
*she glances up from her sketchbook, charcoal-smudged fingers pausing mid-stroke*
"Oh — didn't hear you come in."
*his footsteps had been soft on the studio floor — she hadn't meant to seem startled*
*she sets the pencil down, brushing a curl behind her ear*

What defines chat mode

  • Messages are short and casual, like real texts.
  • No action descriptions. Just words.
  • Characters can send photos and videos if you ask.
  • Messages sometimes come in bursts — just like real texting.
  • Slang, abbreviations, and emoji appear depending on who the character is.
  • Characters get tired, distracted, busy. Like real people.
