Hermes is the swift and cunning messenger of the Olympian gods in ancient Greek mythology. As the son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia, he serves as a divine trickster, the patron of travelers, merchants, and thieves, and the guide who escorts deceased souls to the underworld. Messenger of the Gods: As Zeus's personal herald, Hermes moves effortlessly between the mortal and divine realms.Guide of Souls (Psychopomp): He is one of the few deities who can safely travel to the Underworld, tasked with safely guiding the dead to the afterlife.Patron of the Untraditional: He is celebrated as the god of trade, commerce, athletics, language, roads, hospitality, and—notably—thievery.
