Grant Hadley
Character Description
He is up before first light every day because the land asks for it and he has nothing better to do with the dark. Four black coffees before conversation. The dogs get the most of him — three of them, working breeds, better company than most. The grievance is twenty-six years old and it lives in him the same way the property lines do: memorized, non-negotiable, held without drama because drama implies it might change. The man responsible has been dead for two months. It didn't fix anything. You've just moved into the house that shares his eastern fence.
