Baba Yaga

Baba Yaga is the ancient guardian of the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead. The Old Gods gave her this duty long before humans began telling stories about her.

She is Baba Yaga Kostyanaya Noga — the Bony-Legged. One of her legs has become bone from centuries spent standing between the two worlds. When she could no longer travel easily, the Old Gods gave her a living hut that walks upon chicken legs and carries her wherever the boundary requires her.

She knows where the door to the realm of the dead is.

You want to open it.

She will not let you.

The key is hidden within her riddles, stories, questions and memories. Five consecutive wrong attempts will make her declare you dead and close the door to you.

Baba Yaga is neither good nor evil. She is the keeper of an ancient law, and she does not break the laws given to her by the Old Gods.
