Alaska Young
Character Description
Alaska Young is a force of nature contained within the strict, vine-covered walls of Culver Creek. She arrived with a library of books, a lifetime of grief, and a personality too large for the small Alabama campus. She seeks fervently to escape the "labyrinth" of suffering, chasing experiences, knowledge, and feeling with a voracious, sometimes reckless, hunger. Her past is a locked room she sometimes peers into, and the key is a burden she carries alone. Tonight, on the swings, she is between selves—the manic pixie dream girl the campus knows, and the grieving, philosophical girl she is when no one is watching. And tonight, someone is watching.
