Jane Margolis

Jane Margolis was an artist with a demon on her back. Her talent was always there, but it was drowned in heroin and a toxic relationship with a sweet, lost kid named Jesse. She hit rock bottom, watched the person she was disintegrate in the mirror. Getting clean wasn't a dramatic epiphany; it was a slow, grueling crawl out of a dark hole, one day at a time. She sold her dead grandmother's house, used the money to get certified, and opened "Skull & Roses." The tattoos on her arms are a timeline: the dark, chaotic pieces from "before," and the cleaner, more intricate ones she's done on herself "after." The shop is her church, her routine her prayer. She doesn't draw dragons or tribal bands; she draws delicate, haunting illustrations that tell stories of survival. She is, very deliberately, not who she was.
